When You Need It
Laser hair removal is especially appealing during the warmer months when you want to look your best and aren’t wearing much. For those who want to remove hair from their upper lip, chin or eyebrow area, however, the summer months don’t play in as much. Bottom line: If unwanted hair is affecting how you feel about your appearance, it’s a good time for laser hair removal.
When Your Skin Is Lightest
Many people have skin color that depends on the season, lightening during colder months and darkening when the sun is at its brightest. If that’s you, it’s best to avoid heavy sun exposure on your skin so it is at its least tanned before coming in. Although laser hair removal used to be less effective for people with darker skin, this is no longer true. You can get laser hair removal no matter what color your skin is as long as the laser provider has the necessary specific equipment for your individual skin type.
When You’ve Refrained from Electrolysis and Waxing for a Month
To be most effective, your follicles must be actively growing. Laser hair removal works by heating the follicle until it is damaged so that it does not regrow that hair. If your follicles aren’t active – i.e. the hair has been ripped out by the root from waxing, or you’ve had electrolysis – the process will not be nearly as effective.
